Changes to the Site

Hi Folks! I want to thank you for being loyal subscribers. I’m making some changes to my blog site. I’m setting it up to be optimal for cell phone use, since about 98% of you access it that way. I’ll be adding a video and audio podcast page, they are becoming very popular. If you noticed that all the old post have been removed and we are starting fresh. I believe these changes will help all us on our journey with Jesus!

The Apostles Doctrine

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
Acts 2:42

The word “doctrine” derives from the Latin term for teaching and refers to the content that was taught in the New Testament. The proper teaching of Scripture was called “The Apostles’ Doctrine,” meaning that which the apostles taught. This contrasted with the erroneous teaching called “doctrine of devils,” meaning that teaching whose source is not God but the messengers of Satan, whose desire is to substitute false religion for Christianity.

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,”
1 Timothy 4:1

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.”
2 Corinthians 11:13-15

The apostles’ doctrine was true, not because an apostle taught it, but because it was consistent with the Scriptures. The Bereans examined the teaching of Paul in light of the Scriptures before accepting it.

“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”
Acts 17:11

Also, the church at Ephesus examined some who called themselves apostles and found them to be liars.

“I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars;
Revelation 2:2

The apostle John tells us in 1 John 4:1 “do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Folks, we need to be like the Bereans, and like the church in Ephesus, and follow what John teaches us…that we should attempt to understand and believe true doctrine, while rejecting all that disagrees with the Word of God.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving! The day as a nation that we take time and reflect on all the things that we are thankful for. But for Believers, this is just 1 day out of 365 that we are thankful. Folks, we know to “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus” for us. By the way, we have the greatest reason of all to be thankful… being saved by the grace of Jesus Christ.

Have a great day!
